Points Page 1
Here are offered points that were hand knapped by Michael McGrath. None of them were made from sawed slabs or by flake-over grinding (FOG). Every point made comes signed and dated in premanent ink, and also signed with a diamond tipped engraver so that dishonest people do not take them and sell them as ancient artifacts. Any points that are classified as "replicas" are made to look old, not to deceive, but as museum examples and for collectors who can't afford the high dollar authentic ones. If you do not see the point you are looking for, please contact us at mike@susquehanna-wd.com and Mike will likely be able to make what you need or at least refer you to another knapper that can help you.

Snyders
Snyders points were a Woodland era point found in the midwest. The very best originals were made from Burlington Chert and Flint Ridge Flint. Here I offer a very nice Nether's Flint Ridge Snyders point replica. It has beautiful lines running through it and a very nice flake scar pattern. At 3 1/2 inches in length and 2 1/4 inches at it's widest part, it's a great thin piece. $40.00

Dovetail
If you like Dovetail points, this one is a must have. It's made from Nether's Flint Ridge that I purchased from the famous knapper Roy Miller. It's got a lot of color and a lot of bold character with the inclusion on the right. A difficult piece of stone to knap, but this one turned out great. It's 3 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 inches at it's widest point. $45.00

Thebes
Thebes points are a highly collectible Archaic period point. An original like the one below would fetch 10 times the price of my reproduction. This Thebes is made from Basidian which is a volcanic rock that is most like a fine grade Basalt. This piece is of such good quality that it resembles the grey hornstones of Kentucky. At 3 3/4 inches long and 1 3/4 inches at its widest point, it's a fine Thebes. I beveled it correctly with an antler pressure flaker and abraded + polished the base appropriately. $30.00
The Shoop Paleo site is located in PA, and the paleo indians that occupied that site had a great affinity for Onondaga Chert. This point is very Shoop like with multiple fluting and the right look to it. At 3 1/4 inches long and an inch at it's widest part, this would represent a new Shoop Clovis point. It's one of the best and most authentic looking Clovis points I've made to date. $35.00

Shoop Clovis Point
Pennsylvania Jasper artifacts are commanding top dollar in the original artifact markets in 2011 as they did in 2010. Even small points like the one below are fetching really high prices. Here I offer you the chance to own a fine replica PA Jasper Orient. PA Jasper is hard to come buy in the knapping world and is fetching gemstone prices when offered for sale. I generally don't sell anythin I make out of it, so here is your chance to own one. The below Orient is 2 3/4 inches long and 1 inch at it's widest part. $18.00

PA Jasper Orient Fishtail
Adena Points were another fine Woodland Point found in the Midwest on into the Northeast and Southeast. The very finest wer made of Flint Ridge. Here's little beauty. Made from Nether's Flint Ridge Flint with lots of wild lines running through it. I've never knapped such a wild piece, but it turned out beautiful despite the lines wanting to fight my flakes traveling across them. At 3 1/4 inches long and a bit over 1 1/4 inches at it's widest point, it represents the average medium sized Adena point with excellent flaking. $30.00

Debert Clovis
The Debert or Gainy Clovis point is a Northeastern type found from the Southeast on up into Canada. It's the same point type found on the Vail Site in Maine. This point is par for what the real artifacts look like. It's made from Esopus Chert of Eastern NY. At 3 1/2 inches long and 1 1/4 inches at it's widest point, it makes a fine replica. Proper abrading and polishing have been done to the base as well as a false patina application to the whole point to give it an old look. Flutes run about 1/3 of the way on both sides. $25.00

Turkey Tail
Here is a large Turkey Tail point made from Texas Rootbeer Flint. While originals were generally made from Hornstone, this one is still a beauty. I even left a bit or cortex on the base and tip to show that I used the whole length of the orignial material. It's thin and it's length is 5 1/2 inches while it's width is 2 1/4 inches. It's thickness is 8mm at the thickest area! It also if very translucent when held up to the light $50.00
